Area Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty vehicles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Cars, exterior walls and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a statement.
Law enforcement state they were alerted late on Wednesday evening, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.
The substance had been applied in the form of a swastika, they added.
Police then located many other smeared vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations banning the public display of Nazi symbols.
Officials state initial examinations suggest the fluid was likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no lead as to its origin; authorities are presently not cognizant of any harm in connection with the occurrence," they commented.
Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to solve the case" and have requested to the residents for information.
An important official stated the vandalism rendered him without words and had to be solved promptly.
"This incident affects the very heart of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the extremist violent incident half a decade ago," he stated on a platform, referring to the murder of nine people by a gunman targeting people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
